Mr. Sasakawa received a Certificate of Appreciation from NCC

Mr. Sasakawa, Director of Secretariat, JANUL (also a member of the Committee on International Scholarly Communication and Associate University Librarian, University of Tokyo Library), received a Certificate of Appreciation from the North American Coordinating Council on Japanese Library Resources (NCC) at the NCC Open Meeting on April 7, 2006 which was held as a part of the 2006 Annual Meeting of the Council on East Asian Libraries (CEAL) and the Association for Asian Studies (AAS) held at San Francisco.

NCC evaluated his contributions toward improvement of scholarly communication between the United State and Japan based on face-to-face communication between US and Japanese librarians, for example, involving in the start-up of Global ILL Framework (GIF), a framework for an interlibrary loan and document delivery service between Japanese and North American Libraries, as a member of the Committee on International Scholarly Communication.
